Home, sweet home.

It's just three more days to home sweet home now, and I'm once more glad to be on my way home.

Where at the start of this I was apprehensive at the thought of a six week long hiatus from familiar shores, in retrospect it hardly seems to have been six weeks at all. The beginning of this sail still does seem like a distant date though. From then till now, I've enjoyed much of the sail, marring some unsavory incidents now and then that were either caused by myself, or beyond my control.

While I may be arriving back on the shores of Singapore on the 30th, I won't be able to reach home until the 1st, partially due to a punishment I have to serve for having brought on board a camera device that wasn't cleared for security. That punishment is for 14 extra duties, of which one I did while in Bitung Harbor, Indonesia.

I've already gone through two thirds of a post detailing my experiences through the trip, but I won't want to post it when I can share it in person. Things like experiencing sea state 4 with things falling around you, things like washing down deck in single digit temperatures, (with no lack of icy water) and even ones that involve perhaps a too hearty embracing of a port of call's amenities were all part and parcel of the eventful sail.

In the months to come, my ship will be involved in at least five more sailings, some of which are also fairly long. Here's hoping that all of them will be just as interesting and enjoyable as this one... Meanwhile, I look forward to returning home for a brief two weeks- to my bed (where I can sit up while lying on it) to my shower, to long leisurely breakfasts, to a change of friends and scenery, and to my family.
