Bikes and cameras.

I was looking to be a pretty grim weekend. My first long weekend in a long time, and nothing to occupy it with. Seriously, now that the day is coming to a close, I kind of miss it already. It's a feeling I usually didn't experience with shorter book-outs.

I got Mark and I out for a cycling/photography trip last evening. (yes Wei, I will be washing your bike the next chance I get) It was an overcast day, but I was still going to try for some sunset shots at our long forgotten National Stadium, and some night shots on Sheares Bridge.

The National Stadium is in a state of disrepair, most evident by it's parched field, wild grass outcrops and derelict running track. We climbed in over the ticketing stand, something very much like a low wall obstacle, and landed directly in the vision of a security camera. the 'low wall' was caked with years of dirt, and our clothes bore the brunt of it as we slid down and went into the stadium.

National Stadium
Not a soul was in sight, Mark and I had the whole stadium to ourselves. The 60 000 seater stadium and its seats still looked pretty hardy, though the same could not be said about it's track.

Concrete|Grass
Wild grass and soft heaps of soil littered the surface of the field unevenly. Where they were missing, patches of hard, hard sand had taken over.

We fanned out, making the best of the fading daylight. The picture below was taken by Mark.

Him&Her
Turns out we weren't alone, though. Far in the distance, I spotted a young couple wearing school jerseys. I ran to them and inquired if they got in through an easier path. The conversation didn't last long though, I felt I was getting more luminescent with each second passing by. One of them sported a Tekong buzz cut, but she spoke most definitely like a girl. The other one looked away as she brushed aside her hair. I thanked them for the information, and felt both irritated at myself and intrigued by them.

We took some more photos, and I tried to do a panorama right in the middle of the stadium as the sky turned dark. I can't show it here because my computer couldn't handle the stitching of so many photos. Moving on, we headed towards Sheares Bridge via Tanjong Rhu road. I saw pedestrian walkways flanking the bridge before, on the many trips I took to SAFTI-MI and Tuas Naval Base.

Streak
It was dark by then, and we trudged through a roughly cut path up a few flights of stairs to get this.

Static Lightshow

Technicolor
Both look similar, but the one above is different to me because the light trails of a tall bus made for an even more interesting long exposure. This one here had it's temperature and tint altered dramatically. For some reason, it reminds me of Hong Kong.

It was 12 by the time we got home. We had stopped for a much needed rest stop at Kallang Leisure Park before cycling along the East Coast Stretch in the night. It being late, the park was sparsely populated and felt like a different park altogether.

All in, a really novel and interesting adventure.
