Third week is almost over, and the pace has already picked up. I had a pretty strange feeling today; I saw parents and friends of new recruits touring the island while we were being made to knock it down. It was interesting to see them go through the motions of the tour. Well, there I was, thinking and knowing that through this time I've changed much in many ways compared to fresh-faced recruits, and yet I knew was just three weeks their 'senior'. Three weeks here is psychologically a much longer time away from the usual Singapore, though.

Along that tangent, this section mate was unable to throw a grenade yesterday due to medical conditions, and as a result he had six hours of mundane tasks that allowed his mind to wander. When we finished and caught up with him, he was feeling pretty emotional and missing home, but upon hearing that, I realised I had none of those sentiments; I'd take things by the day, the week, then the month towards POP, and finally through to ORD. I don't wish to go home in the middle of the week, not because I've been successfully indocrinated, but because there's a momentum that shouldn't be broken. Oh well. Nothing sensitive in this post, right? That reminds me. I've gained new perspective on some things, too.

Third week down, one-third way through and six more weeks to go.

* Also, at certain times of the day when we've got free time, section mates will play songs on their speaker-equipped MP3s, and it's really an interesting sight to see ten guys dance to Nobody, or sing I Believe I Can Fly in cadence. Two old songs I heard and liked recently: I Won't Say I'm In Love, and the ending theme from LOTR, The Breaking of the Fellowship.
