I Get Around

I've just got wind that the font seen on this blog is Times New Roman. Well that just stinks, I was under the impression they were nicer fonts that I myself can see on this computer. I'm going to change it tomorrow. :T

I've been going around Singapore looking for shots, here's a compilation. I didn't edit any exposures, save for desaturations, one or two HDRs and a panorama. I think it will help force me to take better pictures. I feel that with every outing, I'm becoming more discerning and adept at it.

First came the Marina Barrage immediately after my Japan trip, but almost all the pictures I took there were very mediocre. This one is too, but something about it makes it interesting to me.

The second stop I made was all the way at Punggol with Mark and Ben, and took the LRT to the stop that was closest to the sea. It was the first time I traveled on that compact cabin.

Works were being done in the master plan to transform Punggol, and save for the piles of flats lying amidst lush greenery, there was nothing much other than sporadic construction sites to look at.

This was taken in an abandoned house at Ann Siang Hill. I went there with Joel, and he spotted this narrow house that had a mirror facing every staircase landing. This picture reminds me of the Prison stage in Mafia.

These were taken at Labrador Park at around seven, going on eight. My parents and Joel made a trip down there after I told my dad a long time ago of a few places I was intending to visit before NS. Tunnels at Labrador were closed that day, I'll go back there some time soon to check them out.

I headed downtown on Monday, after I was mesmerised by the sunset there the previous day. While it was cloudier than the previous day, I didn't give up. I waited half an hour for the clouds to part for the esplanade outdoor concert venue to be bathed in some light, and another hour at the esplanade walk for the sunset. I just sat there and listened to music while preoccupying myself with thoughts.

This is the Sail, and next to it, on the side of the IR is a huge construction site slated to be a vital extension to the CBD, spanking new, clad in glass and waiting to be admired.

I hope you are able to click on the jpeg for the full panorama. Photoshop stitched it with ease for me. Of course, I had to be consistent with the exposure settings.

Last stop was the far end of East Coast park, except it was another cloudy day :T
I retraced my path the previous day, except I left out Changi altogether.

This was the place I mentioned the previous time, with not a soul in sight, and not an end in sight either, to this secondary vegetation.

I just tried some long exposure shot for this, it turned out pretty mediocre, but I like the juxtaposition of the two directions.

I realised a long time ago that sometimes, taking pictures can be a real pain. I say this because sometimes, no matter how strong my desire to whip out my camera, I know that I'll really enjoy and remember the moment better without the annoying need to capture everything on an SD card. The human eye sees a greater dynamic range than a camera can; many a time it's just more enjoyable to watch a sunset than to film it.
