change (goes by too fast)

It's really amazing how fast time goes by, and the changes that blend in so seamlessly with our lives that they make us forget whatever that was before the switch.
I can't really comprehend that before Victoria Secondary was built on its new grounds next to Laguna Park, it was just an empty field, for so many years of my life.
I seriously can't accept that the A380 was flown in Singapore for the first time 2 years ago. Back then, all of us were studying for our Prelims (at least I know I was) and it was a slightly overcast day. I knew at what time the A380 was flying in for its epic welcoming ceremony. (where there were, among other things, two airport fire engines shooting interlocking arcs of water over the A380 as it cruised on the runway) I looked out the window expectantly, hoping to catch a glimpse of it coming in like planes so often do back at Lagoon View.
Man, I miss the expansive scenery there. Needless to say, I didn't catch it in person in the sky, (though I eventually got to ride on it :P) but I did tune in for the ceremony. Still, two years ago seems like an impossibly long time.
As for changes, well, can you remember what comic strip took over foxtrot in Life? Or for that matter, insanity streak? Things keep going at such a fast pace, you don't have to be preoccupied to not notice. We just accept things around us whie focusing on more pertinent matters at hand, and by the time we look back, nothing seems to have caught enough of our attention.
I've always liked this quote that summed up, albeit again in a different way, change.
"I can remember when the air was clean and sex was dirty." George Burns Labels: nostalgia, thoughts
