CV

I had three free periods today thanks to a screwed up timetable that places CL’B’ at 5:05… when all my other classmates can leave at 1:45. I used one of them to talk to my teacher about my CV, she does this with every classmate. Through the little discussion, I had some thoughts that I felt I ought to note down. Might be good to see what comes of it two years down the road when I try for a University (or if I have the grades to try for it.)

My teacher and I believe that I have more than fulfilled the extra curricular stuff with regards to educational seminars etc. But what lacks is a strategic pinpointing of what I wish to venture into, as well as my lack of CIP involvement.

Until now, I have no idea of what field to venture into, but I know I’d like something along the lines of current affairs. That’s the only clue I have. No thanks, right now being a GP tutor isn’t my take, and being an MP is ludicrous. Whereas many of my classmates have decided on aeronautical engineering, or engineering, (why, really, does that field attract so many people?) I, together with this other guy, have not much of a compass in hand.

The CIP thing is easy. At least, its much easier to fulfill than say signing up for a seminar or overseas trip in J2. I just need to find some CIP hours related to my field of interest. Shouldn’t be so hard.

Oh, and MJC is organizing a London trip for economics (J2 only, J1s have their Cambridge things.) from the 31st to the 7th of June. Mr Lin Pei is one of the teachers whom I went along with for the GIP trip and is at the helm of this new econs trip, so hopefully I’ve made a good enough impression to get through the selection stage. Needless to say, I’m eager to join, and have the form almost ready for submission.

I sign up for it in the wake of rejecting the original Vietnam GIP trip that I tried for and got last year, since I feel going for the Simulated Model UN conference is going to be more impressive on my CV than 2 GIPs. They are both on the March holidays. And since the March block test comes immediately after, they said pupils can bring along their work and ask for consultations there. Absurd. Besides, the two main attractions for me, the Cu Chi tunnels and the Mekong Delta tour, can be done on my own or with others.
