marathon 'post-mortem'

(Links are in grey on this blog)

I remembered to ask a friend who ran the full marathon how he did, and it jogged my memory to check out the detailed statistics of my run on the website.

I had five persons to check out:

My Dad

Amir, an mjc guy who went for the Dubai GIP and also went for the marathon
[his previous official run was a 10k o.0]

Myself

Shaun Djie
[My tennis mate who went for the half marathon too, but left the day after for Tasmania, meaning I couldnt ask him for his timing. His rare surname yielded only one result. (him, la.)]

Mr Tan Cher Chong
I mentioned meeting him at the war memorial after the run, and at first couldnt find his name
[His surname is Tan after all, and it yielded too many results that I couldn't filter. I had to go to the Damai website and reaffirm how his name was spelt.]

Incidentally, before I continue, the Damai website is revamped and features students from our cohort on its homepage marquee.

Anyway, I found out that my dad beat Amir by close to half an hour (2k places behind), Mr Tan beat me by one and a half minutes, (183 postions behind him) but I beat my tennis mate by 10 minutes (900 places behind)

So. I finished in a time of 2:08:37, but the best runner beat my time by a whole hour. I lost the page though, so I don't know who it is. But an African? Most definitely.

Venue: City Hall, close to the finishing line.

Venue: (both mine and Shaun's) behind floating platform.
I think my dad's one is damn nice la. He had 4 pictures to choose from, while I had 2. Mine definitely isn't as epic as my dad's, but hey, it's better than Shaun's! :P He's wearing this adidas yellow gear that he won in a competition hosted by Standard Chartered too, which required him to write an essay on the most inspiring event that happened to him.

Needless to say, he won it. I think the essay topic sounds like some primary school topic la. I didn't get it because apparently my dad didn't write my email address in the registration. But that's okay. I don't think I would have tried. Don't you think the posing grey-haired guy in front of him makes the picture look all the more ironic? LOL

On another note, there were't any pictures of Mr. Tan at all.
