I was playing NF today when I got the dreaded BSOD. It said that there was a 'page fault in a non-paged area'. I used to wonder why computer jargon was so damn ambiguous. Then the answer came that if it was simple enough, there won't be so many jobs around today. Some things need to be necessarily complicated. Bah.

Nevertheless, I tried, like I usually do, to run it as usual, and then running some system scans. I have that nasty habit of leaving it to when the problem occurs. I had to do it in safe mode, since the BSOD would appear every so often, and the computer would hang when I tried operating it in normal mode. The irritating thing about my BSODs is that it appears for like 2 seconds before rebooting. God. I have to take a picture of it everytime.

I found some infections and removed them, one a cookie and the other an MRU tracker, need to find out what that is. The moment I did so, the next BSOD occured. Some time later I went to use Joel's computer to verify the problem, and found it might be the RAM or insufficient heat dissipation, among other hardware possibilities. I didn't explore the software options yet because it was such a pain in the ass to work the computer long enough.

I removed the CPU cover and drew the windows (that were letting in afternoon heat and light) and turned on the fan. Seems to have cured the problem. I swear, the one peeve I have about this house is that hot afternoons are not the only hot part of the day. It's warm in the night, too, but thankfully not always. When you lie on your back, you can tell that later into the night, you'll be feeling sticky with perspiration. Imagine if I was some bigger guy. Boy, would I be sweating buckets.
