What can you accomplish in 5 hours? 1) Watch three "Hitman" movies, with 21 minutes to spare. (I wouldn't recommend it, though.) 2) Take the H2 Math Promotional paper, then do it over again. 3) Play 5 Company of Heroes games. 4) Watch 10 episodes of "Family Guy". 5) Run 5 10km runs.
Or, if you are up for it, 6) Queue.
I spent 5 hours queuing today at Clarke Quay, attempting to get the Nike 10K+ run bag. Strangely enough, though, impatient as I am, I wasn't very irate about the lengthy time. I suppose it was because I resigned myself to the time the moment I tried tracing the queue origin. I kept walking an walking away from the Central Square, and I finally reached the start point a road away from the tip of Fort Canning Park. Best yet, the ubiquitous snaking made its presence. 5 hours seeing this guy in front of me, and the couple behind.
Interestingly, the people there consisted largely of youths and young adults, many of them from Universities. I guess the Nike branding just clicks better with youths. My dad also said all the serious runners (read, 50 something year-olds) don't really bother with just 10K. I agree with him that at 42.195km, the mind plays a much, much bigger role than sheer fitness. It is why you see so many working adults at such races, and youths at shorter distances.
This is a song that I've been listening to quite a bit recently. Jazz, in my opinion, is very calming, and yet doesn't come off as melancholic as Final Fantasy melodies. Sometimes you prefer this, since you don't want to be lulled too much, yet want to unwind every part of your body.
