** If I think about what dad says pretty often, (If you don't want to lead, then shut up) then I must say I cannot, within my limits, think of a good company name right now. So fine. D+compose is a magical and wondrous name that is sure to get a lot of support for its unique identity. While I can gripe about it, I think from now on, I ought to keep all my gripes in bloody low tones so as not to wake the dead. Wait, no, totally silent. And I'll see if I can keep it up.

This article in the papers today talked about how some companies are using the 'D'' prefix to their name, like 'D'amor', for instance. Where '@' was once the in thing, (and maybe still is), it seems styles have changed.

I don't like the pseudo french flavor that it tries to pull off, but its something that doesn't really peeve me that much to think about it. After all, some shop names like D'zire do have a hint of an idea to where the owners are coming from. This one, however, takes the icing of the cake. Hell, the whole damn cake with its aluminium foil base.

D+compose is a singaporean based design company, which, in my opinion, will never take flight if it's target group were educated singaporeans. Just pronounce it. Why, here is how a hypothetical would-be customer conversation.

Jim: So, Frank, which company has sucessfully tendered the bid to design our now project?
Frank: Decompose.
Jim: ... Is that an insult? That was pretty weak, you know.
Frank: Serious! Decompose!
Jim: To hell with this. I can't believe I just got insulted by my best friend and colleague. I'm leaving this company.
Frank: No, wait! Don't go! Decompose is on the line and waiting for instructions!

In retrospect, it's pretty lame. But what the hell. You get my point. Some may say that the director of the company was in the same situation as an artist, where thinking or doing something for a long period may make the end product seem ok, but take a moment off and look at it again, and it can do with a lot of refining. No. Simply put, I wouldn't put ever put my cash into a company with a ludicrous name in attempting to sound up-to-date with the times.
