Funes el memorioso

You know, lately I write posts on Word very often, only to have them superseded by newer events or blog fodder, since all they do is usually stagnate in the hard drive. Here is my latest, hopefully you will get to see it.
You know, I think every girl has a scent. I have no idea where it comes from, it isn’t perfume that is simply worn, it’s like born from the supposedly copious amounts of stuff they use when they bathe, maybe. Some of them are really obvious, while some are subtle. But what makes it special is that the memory of the sweet scent will always stay with you.
It clings better than ordinary memories, since it includes a sensory organ. Each is different from the other, and rarely do you detect the same scent from someone else. During my last day of orientation a few days ago, I could swear Eileen was somewhere nearby simply from the scent I picked up. Another thing is, you can’t describe the scent easily either, since it isn’t born of a perfume. Obviously, she wasn’t anywhere nearby, but it the opposite seemed just as likely.
Such memory association is powerful in other things, too, like songs or pictures. For example, this song, ‘Can You Feel The Love Tonight’, reminds me of not just the awesome movie, but of the long rides my family took in the past, from Marine Parade to Tuas, to get to our Club, Raffles Marina. I don’t know about the reader, but such associations can be pleasing or painful. For a forgetful person like me, it is perhaps my best assistant in remembering fond memories.
