Where's my bloglist...
Thursday, January 10, 2008

Well you may find this stupid, but i have little to blog about since i forgot to bring along my blog list of stuff to write. No matter. It is now the last period of my four free periods, the last lesson of the day is CSE for me. The real last period is Chem, but i don't take that and its already 2;35pm, so i think i'm allowed to leave school.

For the previous preriods i first had lunch, then went to read blogs, leaving myself 2 hrs of mugging. No kidding. the entire second storey of the library was chock-full of people reading up on lesson-relative material or doing homework or reading up on notes that will soon be covered. The pressure is enormous. I mean, all of them were JC1 people. On the fourth day of official PAE. If that is not scary, i don;t know what is.

So i tried to go and do some physics but apparently i had no idea what was going on. I did math Partial Fractions but although it wasn't super hard per se, i did it exceedingly slowly, frightened of any careless mistakes. For gods sakes, it was just practice questions and it won't even be marked. And i haven't done the 8 questions. only up to 6. Halfway i gave up. Will consult Joel and procrastinate it 'till tomorrow.

Anyway, tennis tryouts were not very good that day. It isn't as common nowadays, but still my first few strokes were mediocre and below. But my first few strokes were all i got. So i will know the results this coming Tuesday.

Also, yesterday we did finish Partial Fractions, and the new topic is Binomial Theorem. A previous A Maths topic, and i knew that already. So i got home and asked joel to teach me the basics (and the basics is the entire chapter of Sec 4 Binomial Theorem... heheh) so i would understand it. It then dawned on me the seriousness of this. If i wanted to go on, i would definitely need a tutor, as Joel who was so kindly teaching me yesterday told me, that i couldn't possibly burden anyone who had a JC life of his or her own with a person like me wanting to complete 2 years of A Math in a much shorter time. So i was feeling super sian, not wanting to go for extra tuition when already the workload is starting to show. My mind drifted to Poly, as i knew they have business courses there. Business appears to be my end goal for now, since i am convined that with my parents in that field, i can gain an edge by having such experienced professionals be my parents.

But Joel pointed out a very salient and obvious (yet overlooked by me) point; that i would eventually have to do higher standard Maths sooner or later in University, (provided that was and indeed is my end goal) and would therefore only prolong death by choosing Poly. And i hate it that teachers did not do as well in emphasising how important A Maths was for anything short of a Poly or ITE education. I think they assumed with such calibre students, the only place they might go is to Poly. Well sucks, if any junior ever happens to ask me, i will tell them straight out, go for A Maths.

So when i consulted my parents on the choice i now had to make, they decided it was best i get a tutor. Joel recommended i speak to Ms Sharifah for a tutor. I did, and i must say, there is a good reason why i think Ms Sharifah is a really swell teacher. I don;t know if you feel it too, but sarcasm is best enjoyed when conversing with a Malay person. Obviously the person must first understand it well, but i think the deciding point is that Malays tend to be more fun-loving than us Chinese. They are more certain to be outspoken and active.

See you people later for badminton!
