wha really man. i suddenly had a huge urge to go ahead with getting a new com. but there are real problems. acer call support gives me 2 opinions. one tells me the whole warranty will be voided if i get graphics cards from outside. another tells me that i will only get warranty for the acer parts. so the latter tells me she is 100 percent accurate with her information. but the former also says; he is 100 percent sure. -.-.
so i decide, getting another graphics card from outside is ok. i look up prices on
http://www.hardwarezone.com/. and so i find this simlim shop that sells it. i call them.
me: hello do you sell the nvidia geforce 8600 series of graphics cards?
him: yes
yes im looking for the 512mb on do you have it?
him: hold on
him: yah
me: ok thanks. my friend tells me that to have dual cards i have to have something to link them. do you sell such a link?
him: yes the nvidia 8600 we got sell
me: no i mean, to have dual cards i must have a link interface. i dont know what its called exactly though. do you have that?
him: gigabyte or nividia? (they are both labels who sell and make the card type)
me: huh? no! the link thing, do you sell it?
him: hold on
him: yah got sell. crossfire bridge one. (bridge is the term for the physical link)
me: i thought crossfire is for ATI?
him: ya, the nividia 8600 we got sell
me: no as in the bridge...
it takes like so long to get him to understand. my gosh. maybe he is rogers dad. yeah i think ill get a new com after all... total for it, plus extended warranty, plus 4gig ram upgrade, plus a 8600 card, not including the bridge is $2477.
