so today i read a report on the malaysian automaker, proton. apparently it underwent many deals with other automakers like General Motors and VW in order to keep itself afloat. while the idea was spurned, it was eventually snubbed my Abdullah because of the potential jobs malaysians could lose (ahead of the elections? no way.) and something else that i forgot. i think it was risk of letting the international stockholders gain much control over the company. In any case, this came to light because Proton was supposedly in the red for some time, and steadily increasing in losses. well, i think this case has much to do with the study that we did in ss for singapore's opening of its doors to other countries in the past. for those of you who forgot the ss chapter, it basically said singapore was smarter than other countries as it opened its economic doors instead of closing them, for other countires were fearful thatc should they let outsiders trade, they would eventually lose control over their own economy when the foreigners monopolised the economy. i have obviously no idea if abdullah and his dudes have read the singaporean ss book and the chapter which shows stark similarities, but i am sure the elections take high priority right now, and Proton can always fall upon the government, as the government has faithfully shown, bailing out companies with huge saddling debts.
