the run was nothing like id expected it to turn out. thinking myself to be struggling past the 6km mark, i didnt look forward to the prospecting race at all. but past the 6k mark, the 8k mark and finally the end, i didnt feel the slightest bit tired. just breath in deep every two paces. the start was a usual slow pace from the bottlenecking, but the race for me was even footing all the way, save for the end where i picked up the pace.
the official clock says i was at one hour and one second, give or take, but that records the start of the race and not when you passed the start mat. so i count myself as having completed at a best of 59:41:77, as according to my watch. bloody good, i must say, for i only did FOUR practice races only the week before and at a distance of 5 or less km. highly likely to do the standard chartered again next year. the trainings may be irritating but the race is fucking good, running past a rising sun in the heart of the CBD and soaking in the cool wind in your face.
this race was not even comparable to the shithole of a venue for the mizuno race, where despite four or more weeks of training (twice a week) of 8km left me fagged at the 6km mark. the processing of participants was uber smooth, so kudos to the race planners, having gained veterancy and exceeded my expectations. to all those non-believes, naysayers and evil-doers, let it be known that my ground stands,
10K, FUCK YEAH!!
